Yes, ecokit™ is leaving Facebook. Why?
Apart from a practical perspective where we no longer feel this platform is worth the investment of our time & money, the main force behind this decision is a moral one. We can no longer, with good conscience, participate on a platform whose ethics are exactly counter to ours.
While we originally used the platform because we felt it would be natural to reach out to those that might be looking for connection and collaboration, we were overlooking the most important point. However, privacy should be respected and not overlooked.
CHASING LIKES & CLICKS
Early this year we have started a thorough review of our marketing efforts. We measured, collected and analysed data. The conclusion came a few months later: no matter how much time we invested into content creation, the ROI just wasn’t there. And we are not necessarily talking about dollars.
We simply cannot forget that our customers are not clicks and likes, they are real humans, with their specific questions, vision and dreams. We realized that we need to engage those people, rather than trying to reach thousands at a time. In other words, we recognised that it is better to have meaningful dialogue with 10 potential customers than attempt to convert thousands at a time with general messaging.
RETURNING TO THE REAL WORLD
The conclusion we’ve come to is simple. Less emphasis on self-centred ‘look how good we are’ social media posts… and more attention to what’s real and true to our core vision and values. Instead of spending time on content creation, we are redirecting our efforts into a deeper engagement, building a stronger connection with potential and existing customers. This involves listening to feedback and improving our product & services.
At this stage, we are keeping our presence on other social media platforms but they also will be reviewed and reconsidered. If you would like to get in touch, give us a call, send us an email.
